Over 80% of jobs now require digital skills
For many people out of work, the challenge isn’t just finding a job. It’s knowing where to start.
Pause, Plan, Progress is designed to change that.
Part of the South Yorkshire Pathways to Work framework, the programme gives unemployed adults the time and support to step back, reflect on their current situation and take a more structured approach to what comes next.
It starts with a pause.
Time to think clearly about where you are, what you want and what might be holding you back. From there, the focus shifts to planning. Exploring different career options, understanding what’s required and building a realistic path forward.
But this isn’t just about thinking. It’s about doing.
The programme is built around developing practical digital and media skills that are relevant in today’s job market. Participants learn how to create websites, use tools such as Canva and develop video content, all within a supportive, hands on environment.
These skills are then brought together to create a professional online portfolio. Something tangible that showcases ability, progress and potential to employers.
Delivered from our town centre offices, participants work alongside our team in a real working environment. This helps build confidence, communication skills and a sense of routine, all of which are important when moving back into employment.
The programme runs for half a day per week, making it manageable alongside other commitments while still providing consistent progress.
Support doesn’t stop there.
- We work closely with local colleges to provide guidance around further education, helping participants understand their options and take the next step into full or part-time courses where appropriate.
- We also collaborate with local training providers, offering advice on traineeships, apprenticeships and employment pathways. This creates clear routes into work with structured support.
- Partnerships with local charities open up volunteering opportunities, allowing participants to gain experience, build confidence and strengthen their CV.
- Alongside this, we work with the Chamber of Commerce and Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council to provide insight and guidance from the business community, helping participants understand what employers are looking for.
The aim is simple.
To give people the time, tools and support they need to move forward with confidence, and take meaningful steps towards employment.
